If the Carolinginoids or whatever they're called wanted for some reason to piss of Scotland even more, they could have, when the UK national anthem was sung during the Coronation, included this gentle verse which was once (briefly) part of it:

Lord, grant that Marshal Wade
May by thy mighty aid
Victory bring;
May he sedition hush,
and like a torrent rush
Rebellious Scots to crush!
God save the King!

... Possibly the only national anthem ever to actually call for members of one of its constituent nations to be crushed.
