We are 127 days into 2023.

Denmark has had 0 mass shootings.

The US has had 186 mass shootings.

It's the guns.

@randahl Oh yeah? How much is that zero on a *per-capita* basis?

Still zero? Yeah, that would be how zero works, wouldn't it?

What if we go by land ar... no, still zero. Got it! Mass shootings *per privately owned gun*. That would give America an adva... what the... how is Denmark still less? Freakin' zero, that's why.

@log @randahl The US has 60 times the inhabitants... That makes it 3 US-shootings per Danish population.

Still a lot more, but it looks a bit les dramatic.

That's some arithmetic there. Illuminate the ratio 3:0 for us now?

@pieist @frank87 @randahl If we *really* want to get heavily into the mathematics of zero, let's talk about the number of US politicians who may be convinced to turn against their gun-manufacturer campaign contributors with the power of reason, logic, and the actuarial value of one person's life.

@log @pieist @randahl It's impossible to convince people if their pay depends on them, not to agree with you.

The high number of 186 is partly because the USA is that big, even very rare events happen pretty often.

But still: I don't think the whole of the EU has one school shooting a year.
