I can't be the only one thinking that equal protection under the law means that Alito and Thomas should be under intense scrutiny right now for criminal tax evasion.

Those "gifts" from their billionaire patrons/employers should properly be considered income, no? Concealed for decades. By two lawyers fully qualified to understand the relevant tax code provisions.

@tomlevenson The idea that we all have equal protection before the law in this country doesn't bear a moment's scrutiny. Nobody with any money spends two years in Rikers awaiting trial. High profile prosecutions of the wealthy are incredibly rare, and typically only happen to offenders whose victims were powerful and/or wealthy.
