@pynkbites new business model: Facebook, Twitter, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and Apple all release totally new social network services every year and kill off the ones they got everyone to join the previous year. You must have an account with every single service in order to buy anything from these companies or their subsidiaries or partners.

@ramin_hal9001 Google tried this with Google+ a decade ago. you needed a G+ account to use YouTube

@pynkbites Yeah, I used Google+ every day, it integrated so nicely and easily with Gmail I couldn't help but get attached to it. I actually am still friends with some of the people I met on Google+.

When they shut down, I tried Diaspora for a bit, but without the Gmail integration, I just couldn't bother to login every day and I have not used it hardly ever since. But now I am on Mastodon and I use it every day and it is a hundred times better than Google+.

@ramin_hal9001 @pynkbites I really tried to like Google+ but they kept screwing with it. By the time they closed it down they had long since driven me away by removing or ruining every feature I liked.
