This might be a reasonable solution for PFAS chemicals. Also known as "Forever" chemicals.

Where I grew up the local paper plant would spray effluent in the back woods, and allow the earth to "cleanse" it. And the local tannery put it's chemicals into the river, Now we're told that all the ground water is contaminated with PFAS and has been for years.

All that manufacturing has moved to China now, and probably their groundwater is being contaminated.

@number6 @tinkel Yep. Our businesses didn't so much export their manufacturing -- that was a side effect -- as export their manufacturing _costs_. Those costs being having to pay living wages, health and safety, and increasing environmental stewardship. So they just said "hey look, we don't have to do any of those things if we just build in in China, because they sure as hell don't do them"
