Interesting video. Hyundai Motor Group is introducing new mechanics for electric cars which allows designers to move the motors closer to the wheels to free up more space inside the vehicle.

Instead of one big EV motor in the center under the hood, a motor is placed near each wheel, and the center can now be used for more battery cells.

@randahl @chris_e_simpson I was sure at least some manufacturers were already doing that. Putting the motors in the hub not only increases space, but efficiency: less friction and mass, and also improves computerized traction control and regenerative braking.

@pieist this is the Tesla model 3. It looks like it has a traditional design with engines in the center and old school drive shafts to the wheels.
