I love the mood in the city center, this time of year, when all the lights come up.
In Denmark we celebrate Jul, which is an old Nordic tradition. And even though King Harald Bluetooth claimed to have turned our viking Kingdom into a Christian country in 965, the population has always had a pretty relaxed view on this.
While you might find a priest or two who insist on using the word Krist-messe to signal a Christian rebranding of our traditions, almost all Danes call our winter festivities Jul.

@randahl Such a remarkable coincidence that every successive religion happens to have its most important festival on or near the same day: just after the solstice, as the days begin to get longer again. The most considerate Gods and messiahs make a point of being born right about then in order to put converted societies to minimal inconvenience.
