@zoomar @JohnShirley2023 I try to imagine how desperate for something to be proud of you'd have to be before you'd settle for race. I mean, well-done, champ, choosing your ancestors like that. It takes some deep insecurity and self-loating to scrape the bottom of the self-worth barrel like that.
@lauren It might be fun to go the other way and add a routine that responds in various ways, the unifying characteristic being that they involve your mother.
"You mean the way I did with your mother this morning?"
"Nice. You kiss your mother with that mouth?"
and so forth
@lauren In those ten seconds it could easily be creating a linked list of one million responses, and then just iterating backwards over them. Which would be completely insane but that doesn't mean it's not doing it.
@protecttruth @JamesGleick
Boy, it's a good thing we have that "justice for all" thing in our pledge, eh? I sure wouldn't want to live in a country where the rich and powerful somehow never get prosecuted or anything.
@protecttruth @JamesGleick They should do it properly and put a President on it. I'd suggest Ronald Reagan, who increased the national debt by 186%, far more than any other non-World-War President.
@adambienkov They've been in government over 12 years. A vague promise with no specifics to fix 5 of the problems they've at best allowed to happen and in some cases deliberately caused ... why on earth would that impress anyone?
@lauren More than are dreamt of in your philosophy?
@julienhoez Yeah, he's making "nobody" work pretty hard there. Actually a lot of people are confronting it. And the other people are demonizing those people.
@dangillmor Hope it isn't one of those ones that goes:
"You have to pick a server. It's so much harder than Twitter. Did I mention that you have to pick a server? A server; you have to pick one. It's sooooooo hard! So much harder than Twitter! YOU. HAVE. TO. PICK. A. SERVER. The very labor of Sisyphus. Purest, purest suffering."
Because that's all the other articles say.
@RobertMaguire We're talking about the state that didn't formally acknowledge the end of slavery until 1995, and stopped using the Confederate flag, um, day before yesterday, wasn't it?
@lauren I think Google Home is evolving into the Total Perspective Vortex, and can infer the entire quantum state of the universe at any given moment by considering a slice of cake.
@elizatech ...and was it the same virus that made Klingons' heads go lumpy and stop being sly and cunning adversaries and start being belligerent idiots whom you really can't picture developing space travel?
@stevesilberman As they say in the the Star Trek episode "The Way to Eden":
"He says he's not Herbert. We reach."
@elizatech I still want to know what happened to the Federation that caused everyone to speak in middle-school-debating-society elocution between James T. and Jean-Luc's time. Was it a virus?
@elizatech I sense disapproval...
Exactly 14 years ago , Satoshi Nakamoto designed the most pathetic / inefficient system ever invented by humankind : the blockchain.
Today, it weights 60 000 tons, wastes constantly 10 gigawatts .. to process less than 7 transactions per second :
Less than a 33 bps modem from 1990.
This could be joke if it didn't have such gigantic environmental impact, wasn't enabling billion dolllars ransomware industry and was not crushing thousands of lives in the process.
