@SwiftOnSecurity Bet you hate freedom, and America too
@RollingStone It's hard to even put into words what a stupid thing this is to do. Like when your college roommate wants to do a self-trepanation: you don't even know where to begin or even if there's any point. Clearly he has the "shrug, I get paid either way' kind of lawyers."
@somafm I've just plugged you and now I notice you don't have the URL in your profile.
I mean, "somafm.com" isn't a difficult guess, but still...
LinkedIn is probably the platonic ideal of a Granfalloon-based, or even Granfalloon-generating, platform
@akeldama@mas.to @ottocrat For me there was always this dichotomy: if I want to listen to it, I don't want the distraction of trying to work while listening to it. And if I don't want to listen to it I want it off, now.
I eventually warmed to ambient/electronica, and there are subgenres I can have streaming, and mentally tune in and out while doing something else.
As our world enlarged to the point where you didn't spend your life mostly surrounded by your own villagers, we had to develop a sense of who was or was not in your tribe. People fixate on the most fucked up things as a substitute for any reasonable definition of "one of me" vs "one of them". For Europeans, Catholicism used to do it, but that went up the spout in the late Middle Ages...
*sadly throws out his 8-disc CD collection, "The Squawking of Ginger Tossers"*
@ottocrat If I couldn't blast Bond film incidental music in my ears while riding a sport bike far too quickly up a twisty mountain road, an appreciable fraction of my joy in life would evaporate. Of course I somehow manage to get by without powered parasailers trying to machine gun me, but we all have to compromise.
@quotesofnote@zirk.us @timkmak A frippery. Cave painting by firelight brings the whole family together.
@elizatech If I'm sleeping on the bottom, I usually turn the bedding around so my face isn't right next to the place where people step to get to the top. Because I'm pretty sure they only clean these cabins once a year or so.
@hee_nalu @SwiftOnSecurity Yes, you've spotted the irony. Well done.
So many possibilities, but another one that stands out is "Richard Does Not Wear A Mask" The fury I've seen at all the malicious evil mask-wearing. Curiously, mostly held inside by Richard except when it's a woman half his size.
@SwiftOnSecurity A rule I try to follow is never use Windows if you don't have a large and competent corporate IT department maintaining it. When you do, it's like using a Mac. It really does just work.
@cfiesler The trouble with skeuomorphism is that it evokes things that often haven't been seen in decades.
The handset icon on your iPhone recalls a thing that a typical 20 year old may never have physically touched, or seen outside a film or TV show.
What do we use for icons when everything IRL is the same rectangle with rounded corners?
