Autopoiesis. A beautiful word.
And an utterly superfluous one.
You cannot do anything useful with it.

Of course you can't do anything with it. It is #autopoiesis. It is doing things onto itself like #growing and #learning. 😉
I see it more as a #process of self-#production and maintenance rather than a #state or #characteristics of a system:

... etymologically derived from the ancient Greek term ποιεῖν, which means "to make". It is related to the word poetry, which shares the same root.
@pj All of that are just "illustrations" of "living". #Living systems are alive. Fine! What do we need the term #autopoiesis for? Answer: We do not need it.

Autopoiesis is not bringing about anything, really. It is just a state, or a characteristic of a system. The system brings about its own learning, growth etc. Autopoiesis is merely a "condition" of the system. LIKE growing and LIKE learning.
