I love using mind maps. It is easier to get ideas flowing.
The hard part is sometimes to deal with the amount of data i can have #overload but it is one of the tool that I find really powerful.
A few years back i used Xmind but as time went by I found their app being more and more annoying changing what you could have or not (when paying) with sometimes each upgrades. it also became quite slow as well to use (with crashing) and to download the documents made.
Then I used Freemind and then freeplane.
Good for the values I stand for (open source) but I really can't stand it anymore. It forces me to use the "Buzan Mode" every time even if I chose not to. And it is very ugly!
Of course there are really beautiful softwares out there for the windows mac users. Some are Linux friendly but of course all have gafa tech with re-captchas and not data care friendly really.
So I looked and looked and looked... and there is not much on the horizon 🏜️.
@globcoco I also do struggle finding a free computer mind mapping program that doesn't produce boring results. Freemind is the one I'm using right now, and its results really do look ugly.
As I said, “cool” ones are proprietary unfortunately.

Yes it can quite hard.
I did for awhile then was a bit more loose.
Then back again.
But with some doodles you can mix and match between words and pictures.
Now I haven't used it as much as before. I even took a class on it and met my partner at this occasion😊.
Know that you can also use Graphic Facilitation which allows for more freedom...
