I think one thing you have to get used to with #Mastodon is the lack of algorithms. It is what makes social media addicting. It keeps us there and brings us back.

We have had algorithms for years and years, so when we interact with an app (Mastodon) that doesn't have one, it "feels" different.

I see it as a detox of sorts. It's an adjustment, but a positive one.

@justinf I agree that mastodon's "chronological firehose" algorithm is a refreshing change from most sites' highly-curated, heavily-optimized algorithms. There might still be some room for improvement, but the simple approach shows us a better way!
