@zhivi @BlackMastodon Proud, though?

In theory, I don't think it's wrong to be proud of who or what you are, in addition to your accomplishments. Proud to be Black? Proud to be queer? Fine with me! Just "being" can be an accomplishment when an entire culture wants to erase you.

In practice, I'm not sure "white" people have much to be proud of on balance. There's so much to be ashamed of, and so much taking credit for the results of stolen labor and lives. If I start the game halfway between bases, how proud should I be that I managed to make it all the way there?

I'm proud to be an American sometimes, although not in a way that suggests I'd be any less proud if I were from any other country. More proud of what it aspires to be than what it is.
