One thing I like about the Fediverse compared to birdsite is that its relatively small size means there aren't that many interesting people talking about my usual favorite micro-niche topic, so I get bored and follow people here who talk about more general things that interest me. It's quite refreshing being exposed to all those other topics---and a good reminder to me not to obsess over the petty debates in my usual tiny corner of the 'Net.
