According to the official document from the Prime Minister’s Office, Denmark’s new king will be crowned on the 14th of January 2024 as
His Majesty King Frederik 10
His ordinal number is 10 because our Queen’s dad was King Frederik 9.
The ancestry of the Danish royal family can be traced all the way back to Gorm the Old, who died in the year 958, and whose rune stone can still be seen at the Unesco World Heritage site in Jelling (the larger stone shown to the right).

@randahl Will he be crowned or will he just accede to the throne until a formal coronation in the summer?
@toddunctious no other ceremony is mentioned on the website of The Royal Court. Therefore I expect January 14 to be the only official ceremony.
However, I expect it will be much more modest than the recent event in the UK. At least this is how, Her Majesty The Queen normally prefers it.
@randahl @toddunctious Kings and queens of Denmark are announced, rather than coronated. There will be no grand ceremony like they have in England.
The procedure, usually, goes like this:
The prime Minister will, provably, say the following from the balcony at the Copenhagen city hall:
"Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II has abdicated, long live King Frederik X!"
Then the new King will give a short speech, and that's it for the official part....

@riese @randahl @toddunctious like most Danes, I'm a royalist, so I don't think that would ever happen as long as the royal family has that support.
Seeing how it's going in other republics around the world, if rather have a king or a queen than a president.
