Would you mind writing more about this part? I always assumed that the important property deciding whether I'm welcome to interact with something is the interaction itself and not my account's identity.

It's a boundaries thing. If a minor requests that you not interact with them or their posts if/because you are an 18+/porn-centric account, that's a fair request to make. One doesn't get to pick and choose the boundaries they are beholden to.
