This is super bad. This reckless ruling strikes down ALL US Preventive Services Task Force recommendations, which under ACA make them free without cost sharing for millions of Americans. https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/texas-judge-blocks-obamacare-coverage-mandate-prep-cancer-screening-2023-03-30/?fbclid=IwAR3cy8psx7qTdsLZBvndMIh96EDXbiwyQ9YUUUrVQMHljM7IDyrSfl9K194

And culture war stories? Mostly, they fall apart on a local level.

It's harder to villainize your neighbors when they have the chance to tell their own stories.

It's one thing to read about trans people in Time Magazine, as a nebulous and far away concept, and another entirely to read a profile of the trans man who works at the coffee shop you visit every day, and who you've spoken kindly to every day for the last 4 years, talking about the death threats he receives from members of the church you attend.

An excellent hotel keycard (click for full image).

One wonders if the scale insects get nervous when one of their neighbors suddenly collapses into a bloom of zombie fungus.

Tonight, I’m thinking of all those working in the U.S. Treasury Department. Many will work through the night to get a handle on how #CreditSuisse difficulties will affect U.S. banks. #banks #banking

“The people who blame wokeness for the collapse of a bank do not want you to understand or even think about the political economy of banking in the United States. They want to deflect your attention from the real questions toward a manufactured cultural conflict. And the reason they want to do this is to obscure the extent to which they are complicit in — or responsible for — creating an environment in which banks collapse for lack of appropriate regulation.”

How to respond to VP Pious McKissAss's holier than thou BS. Via Kaivan Shroff:

Chasten #Buttigieg responds to #Pence’s bigoted Gridiron comment about Pete Buttigieg taking “maternity” leave.

Pence’s staff doubled-down on the comment today.

Chasten:
An honest ques for you, @Mike_Pence, after your attempted joke... If your grandchild was born prematurely & placed on a ventilator at two months old - their tiny fingers wrapped around yours as monitors beep in the background - where would you be?

Enough.

Busy day at Stonehenge as the stones are moved forward one hour.

Today I picked up the first book of Phoebe and Her Unicorn at the library booksale because I'd heard a friend of mine (a mom of small kids, importantly) mention it in passing with approval, and I idly started reading it, and this is NOT the book I thought it was, and it's $%^&ing HILARIOUS

Trying to think up something to make for #supper tonight, and suddenly realizing we're going to need to eat supper AGAIN tomorrow night.

And probably for several days after.

It's like a never ending thing this whole gotta-have-supper thing. Crazy.

A Texas lawsuit vividly shows how abortion bans cause women excruciating pain and even death. Plaintiffs argue that the Texas law inequitably deprives women of the rights to life and liberty without due process of law, contravening the state constitution.

Tough to read about the preventable suffering endured by the women who brought the suit, but absolutely necessary to face it. This link provides gift access: https://wapo.st/3SZVJwI #Women #WomensLiberation #AbortionRights
