It does differ per instance. We have our house rules over at our About page at https://qoto.org/about/more so everybody should know what to expect on here.
The Federated timeline falls outside of our domain, and you might see some stuff you'd rather like to block (and I encourage you to do so if it upsets you).
Thankfully the users have good tools at their disposal and you can even block whole domains if that's full of not-so-nice peeps.
