Saw pictures of the mother in the news and she is clearly caucasian. Described in the news as being of Algerian and Morrocan origin. Algerian can be any of a range of things. Would suspect that the mother is "Pied Noir." Former colonist in Algeria of French racial origin. (Do not know, but likely.) She was raising him alone. I think he would be colloquialaly refered to as "beurre." Literally, butter. Mixed Arab/French. The description of him as "French." would be largely correct. France is a melting pot with a large North African portion.

I meant that for the one who asked.
It does matter somewhat, since the young people who get killed by the police in France tend to be either African or Arab.
