UK Politics, Sunak

@russellengland @adambienkov

In exchange, you are no longer affiliated with the largest common market for trade in the world. You have to accept some downside to be able to limit the size of your market and shrink your economy.

@spaf

It could be one of the few good reasons to dabble in bulimic behavior.

@spaf It means that you will have to eat at Shooter's Grill.

But, then how will I make selfies and videos to put on social media?

@evacide

I would not bet on that. Thanks for giving me the idea. Now I will have nightmares about Greenwald and Tulsi pouncing on me from behind garden plants.

I'll be speaking at CyberThreat in London this month, about "GitHub & Security" (:github: is a 🥇sponsor)

There's more than enough to say about that to fill my 10 minutes!

It is hosted by the UK Gov's National Cyber Security Centre and the SANS Institute, on 16-17 Jan '23.

There's talks from @chich and James Lyne (CTO of SANS), and keynotes from CERT-UA and Gordon Corera.

Nothing makes pregnancy more attractive than turning it into a life threatening proposition.

It seems like the Republican platform for 2024 will be a combination of banning pornography and contraception. Sounds like something the majority of USA would buy into, doesn't it?

Rebecca Solnit on the Tate vs. Thunberg Twitter spat:

‘Beyond the entertainment value of what transpired over the past few days is a serious reminder of the intersection between machismo, misogyny, hostility to climate action and climate science, and the dank underworld of rightwing characters like Tate recruiting white boys and young men to their views.’

Year in review: I did not die

Unfortunately, a huge number of residents of giant cities and tiny villages in Ukraine cannot say the same

Today, remember the residents of Mariupol, Bucha, Izyum, Bakhmut, Lyman, Kherson, Bashtanka – murdered, shot and tortured to death twitter.com/gandrushka/status/

Tesla.

Once I was looking for the therac25 name and googled "programming error human fatality." See how many hits you get.

Look at hospitals and cities hit by ransomware. Consider how many deaths caused by them.

Then look at Internet blackouts to hide political violence in developing countries.

I would frankly consider many of the laws not demanding accountability from tech firms an attack.

Big Journalism is still largely unwilling to call things what they are. Today's example is the Washington Post's use of "vaccine hesitancy" to describe a movement that is based on rejecting science and evidence in favor of dangerous and, increasingly, politically motivated lies.

The people who reject vaccines are attacking their communities. They spread disease and death. We should recognize this, and say it out loud.

Of course, he is using Tesla profits to fly around in a private plane, which is not climate friendly. Remember he wants to go to another planet, so he does not care about this one.

@sambowne On the one hand, TikTok seems to have most of the social media ills. On the other hand, this seems like a bit of a moral panic. Is China really going to take over the world via teen-age dance videos? Is it worse than Facebook, Instagram?

Seems kind of hypocritical that w criticize China for the Great Firewall and then ban their products here.

I think we need privacy and transparency legislation so people can know what is being done with their data and apply that fairly to all companies.

How about that instead?
