@dajbelshaw great post and VERY, or should that be very, minimalist images.
Do you have before and after examples? Both in terms of image look and data size?
@rw I considered doing that, but I thought serving an 8MB file and then a 36KB file would defeat the point somewhat!
For reference, I would say that most images I post on my blog are around 600-800KB. So crunching them down to less than 50KB makes for significant savings in data transfer.
