This may be the most incisive blog yet from maybe the most incisive blogger. There are deep emotional reasons behind the pathology that calls itself “conservatism,” and we won’t cure or evolve past it without isolating those reasons.

@sakhavi I'm reading Graeber & Wengrow's The Dawn of Everything, and thanks to @JuliusGoat's sterling work, I'm struck with more force by phrases such as "C19th imperialists adopted the stereotype enthusiastically ... to push the free peoples of the world ... into a conceptual space where their judgements [on the failings of Western civilization] no longer seemed threatening."
The same dynamic, writ large. 😞
