@PavelASamsonov Exactly. You can say, "I will attempt to validate" or even (a little more questionable) "I expect to validate," but "I will validate" is actually the opposite of research (and in some respects the opposite of validation).

@PavelASamsonov research may validate a hypothesis (within reason), but only if it is given the opportunity to invalidate it instead.

@e_urq Reactionariness *is* at heart lazy; it’s physical and intellectual laziness politicized. When Buckley said they were standing athwart history yelling “Stop!” he was being 100% honest. The reactionary stance is *reaction* to a world pressing for more universal justice and well-being, by those whose primary concern is that the amount they now enjoy might be lost.

@laprice @PavelASamsonov I think it’s also relevant that AI development is conditioned by product development, in which we traditionally want our products to be inoffensive to users / customers (think how much better behaved ppl are in advertisements than IRL, or Siri’s cute canned answers to stupid user requests).
