Also, the Continental Army was plenty stoppable. Like, incredibly stoppable. Big thank you, France.

Love to see how mad the Onion is here. More folks should be this mad about this.
If you want a really solid critique, it's actually here too. They put their *all* into this piece and while it's sarcastic as usual, it really does cover *so many* aspects of how horrible the current trend of "news" in this space has been.

Punishing people for being naked and / or sexual in media was always senseless, but now it’s senseless in a whole new horrible way.
AI porn is easy to make now. For women, that’s a nightmare. https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2023/02/13/ai-porn-deepfakes-women-consent/
@PavelASamsonov what strange and mythical executive team is this who cares exclusively about customer benefit?
The Tennessee senate is criminalizing public drag performances (which they helpfully extend to all “burlesque” including “go-go” and “stripping”), because kids aren’t dying from guns, bullying, opiates and state violence, they’re getting dragged to death

@JuliusGoat You scamp.
Hellooooo, Chinese Spy Balloon! https://youtu.be/i63yumCNdJs
@JuliusGoat Humans haven’t yet invented a social structure that eliminates violence; the best we’ve come up with afaik is to designate some people who can under some circumstances be violent without reprisal, and then try to have democratic oversight of those ppl & circs. We currently lack that oversight, bc police have succeeded in resisting it. Idk how we could have laws wo enforcement or enforcement wo ultimate threat of violence, but @ very least enforcers must be overseen.
@jeffjarvis the only way to stop a bad guy with an AI is etc
@carnage4life What do you do after living long enough that the punch line is no longer funny?
