There are only 14 counties in the world that offer full legal rights to women. The US is not one of them.
Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Latvia, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Germany and the Netherlands

@carnage4life True. It’s complicated by the fact that different things are important to different people and to the same person at different times (and what you’re doing for them always lags behind).
Every time one of these articles come out, I remember the time in 2013 that the editor of a major academic journal desk-rejected an article of mine about data leakage from gay dating apps via ad networks, because “gay-focused apps are too niche and non-representative a topic for research to warrant mainstream publication.”
Also, this story is absolutely wild: https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2023/03/09/catholics-gay-priests-grindr-data-bishops/
@hypervisible no it’s cool; the companies with all the latest awesome tech shit will run everything in your town, like a, like some sort of, *company* town. There’s never been anything like it; you’ll see!
@batkaren dude needs to stop skipping leg day.
International Women's Day - a reminder that we make up over slightly half of all UX designers, yet leadership roles are still predominantly male, women make less money & are often left out of the histories.
Help me change that & support the Women of IXD project to expand the website to develop a resource to learn about the amazing contributions of women in UX. I'm raising money to hire a developer to build out the redesign.
@dkiesow @mmasnick @jeffjarvis Any code that I wrote more than a few days ago was written by somebody else. And that guy was probably a moron.
@TheAuthorGuy Every time I have to comment on the greatest technical innovation of recent times, I choose the Skip To Recipe button.
In software development, finish lines do happen, of course they do. But they don't happen nearly as often as developers invoke the FINISH-LINE frame.
When we lean on this frame too heavily, we're prone to making decisions that might help us *win* this race while *losing* everything that comes after.
FINISH-LINE can encourage us to cheat, it can tell us that rest isn't important, it can easily create rigid and unchangeable systems. And remember, software development *is* change.
I have a favor to ask. If you work in #infosec, as a #programmer, or other tech-connected job, please take a look at what data your company collects and whether some might be relevant to #ReproductiveHealth.
Are you in a position to change that or at least protect the data better? Can you push your org in the right direction? Please do.
This is no longer an abstract issue. People are doing to jail.

@JuliusGoat Aren’t we literally doing what #scottadams told us to do, “get the hell away” from sources of hate? Why’s he mad?
“You claimed all this time that you would die for me / Why then are you so surprised when you hear your own eulogy?”
It’s such a weird idea: that we have *destroyed* Scott Adams’ reputation, simply by observing that he has said the things he said. That your income should be guaranteed after advocating a racially separatist state, as if being a racist fuckwit puts you in a protected class.
Reasonably happy almost all the time, somehow. Extremely lucky father & husband; 20+ year software veteran / exec now studying the software industry as Ph.D @York University Science and Technology Studies. Blog at https://sakhavi.wordpress.com
