This morning’s total lunar eclipse as seen from Medina County, Ohio, USA. The lunar eclipse cycle takes a long time and with temperatures in the mid30s (°F) my feet were freezing and I was shivering, even in my winter jacket. Worth it! #Astronomy #lunareclipse #TotalLunarEclipse Photo by James Guilford.

Looks like there’s going to be a Total Lunar Eclipse tonight from the perspective of U.S.
Last one till 2025.
@garmark93 well, I think you could argue that they didn't do it to save money, as much as they changed how the money was spent. Space stations the size of a moon aren't free.
So, since you assume you're mainly keeping civilians in line, and not fighting an organized army, you reduce costs in that area to help fund your new super weapon.
My college is closed tomorrow for Election Day
1. Please vote!
2. If you want a thing to change, see if you can get a full or half day from school or work for Election Day!
@garmark93 really? Based on the stupid things the richest people in our galaxy do to save a few bucks, this is probably the most realistic part of the entire franchise

@chespace I'm always surprised by how many people I talk to that have no idea that this even happened.
@LouisIngenthron there is one house in our neighborhood with a tree up in their window already, meanwhile the house across from me still has a 12 foot skeleton in the front yard. It's an interesting juxtaposition.
So, apparently it is helpful to do an #introduction post.

@physicsninja I had never seen one of these and hadn't even heard of it before, and then about a year ago I found a baby one hanging out on my front step.
I took this picture to do an image search to identify it, and by the time I looked back up it was gone.
Daylight Savings Time ended last night.
I've been dealing with changing the clocks my whole life, so it doesn't really bother me. My wife, on the other hand, grew up in a part of the country that didn't change the clocks for DST.
So, for the next week, I will be dealing with a lot of complaining and grumbling about changing time, as she finds it the most unreasonable thing that she has ever been forced to deal with.
