@michaelgemar @golgaloth while Lord of the Rings is probably number one, I also enjoyed Good Omens.

Former NATO envoy to Moscow: Potential escalation with Russia is a myth
West failed to understand Russian regime before the 2022 invasion of Ukraine
He doesn’t mince words
The constant problem is not looking at Russia as it is, but dealing with Russia as we would like it to be
“Russia has, with this invasion, destroyed the international security architecture”

@first_tube @carnage4life I thought it was "whatever doesn't kill you mutates and tries again".
I sincerely hope Threads follows through with their plan to federate. It will give other Fediverse users a controlled pipeline to the zeitgeist.
By judiciously following Threaders here we’ll be able to have safe access to the people, news, and brands we could never convince to use Mastodon without having to submerse ourselves into the massive, undifferentiated flood of info over there.
This is a good thing, yes?
It’s amazing to think how much digitization has made it less likely content will last beyond a generation. Writing on stone tablets last hundreds to thousands of years. An Atari cartridge or Betamax tape is almost impossible to consume today if you aren’t a collector of classic electronics.
I used to think my kids and grandkids would read my blog posts and tweets. Now I doubt Medium or Twitter will still be around in ten years.
My new social media app is called Grouse. You can only post criticism of the 3,000 other new social media apps.
Posts are called “Gripes.” No likes or reposts—just one button to “Commiserate.” If a Gripe receives enough Commiseration it’s elevated by the algorithm into a “Complaint.”
Also there’s an academic version called “Faculty Meeting.”
