This reflects my feelings.
“Titan and Adriana are two vessels recently lost at sea, four days and 4,000 miles apart. The five men who lost their lives on the Titan have been getting wall-to-wall coverage in the media worldwide. Meanwhile, the estimated 700 who died when the Adriana sank off the coast of Greece, mostly women and children, have been essentially forgotten.”

@tommyyum I disagree. The only difference is with the sinking of the Adriana it was instantly clear what happened and that all lives were lost. With the Titan it was unclear what happened until debris of the pressure cabine was found.

Different circumstances, different media coverage.
Both horrible.

@sergeant @tommyyum There was a huge and immediate government response to the Titan, not for the Adriana. The Greek Coast Guard chose not to save the refugees. A private yachtsman nearby was the only one who responded to the distress signal. The media directed our empathy toward a specific story for their own ends
