Read this, then lost 1.5 hours in a rabbit hole of comments.

The comments have given me a different perspective.

For so many folks, who were here years before Twitter imploded, it's a hostile takeover of their homeland.

Those of us who arrived from the wreckage, well we're the Americans in that homeland. Taking and demanding.

I seriously want to take a moment to give thanks to #Mastodon and apologize to the homelands.

Oh but yeah again it was luck and fortune that I was a Black artist willing to wait weeks on a closed queue to get into mastodon.art.

It's been pretty chill here. 💚

There are few reccs for a general Black Mastodon server. 😓 So even I can't tell Black people fleeing Twitter where to go.

And by the time a Black person gets to their 2nd (or so) racist server with confusing infrastructure they might be 100% fed up and off of Mastodon for good.

Tldr:
-Black folk want to have fun talking about Black folk stuff together but also interact with non-blacks.
-Black people are not a monolith. Like everyone else, many aren't tech savvy.
-White folks on Black ppls case about choice of social media, Sit TF down.
-White folk dont have to worry about racism on a new site.
-Black folks go where they feel safe, comfortable, and heard. And they'll fight for that space.
