Unscrupulous websites sometimes sell lists of their customers’ email addresses to spammers, who then sell them on or swap them with other #spammers. You can prevent this by using @SimpleLogin aliases instead of your real email address:

Scammers often simply scrape the web for anything that looks like an email address (such as a text string with an "@" symbol) and add it to their databases. (4/6)

You often inadvertently get ads for genuine products once you’ve registered with a company online. This feels unsolicited, but you may have given your consent, tacitly or otherwise. Here's another case where @SimpleLogin could help:

De laatste keer dat ik bij #BureauArnhem was, was ik in mijn hoedanigheid van #taxi chauffeur om medicijnen te brengen voor een arrestant.

Het liep tegen sluitingstijd, en buiten het bureau werd ik aangesproken door een vrouw (in burgerkleding). “Zo, ben jij de pillenboer? Geef maar hier”.

De toon was direct gezet. Een nare energie. Ik vroeg om een id, immers de vrouw was in burger en ik had dus geen aanknopingspunt wie zij was en of ik haar de medicijnen mocht overdragen. 1/2

“Jezus! Geef nou maar gewoon hier”. Haar toon was intimiderend, bijna agressief.

Ik vroeg opnieuw om id. Zei er ook bij dat ik niet wist wie zij was. Twee andere agenten in uniform bemoeiden zich er niet mee.

Zeer geïrriteerd duwde ze vervolgens haar id bijna tegen mijn neus en noemde haar rang en naam. Ik heb de medicijnen maar afgegeven en ging met een kutgevoel naar huis.

Moest er aan denken toen ik het charmeoffensief van #BureauArnhem zag. #politie is niet altijd je beste vriend. 2/2
