That's not the way I feel the suggestion is meant.

We all know that some people only read headlines or that quotes sometimes omit relevant context.

So they suggest avoiding saying things that can be used for this.

I don't think that's a viable solution but an understandable reaction.

You don't need to assume people you're disagreeing with are stupid to do so. Just that there is a sizable portion. (Which is probably also true about "your" side)
