Seeing the difference in posts federated and blocked between two instances I'm on makes me aware of how much that impacts my ability to see what's going on and reach people.
Running my own instance to control my own block list seems inevitable for me, but the timeline is like "maybe two years".
There's definitely a future where I run a server for myself with all my services, from xmpp to git to web hosting.

@ryancoordinator Just install https://yunohost.org/ . Or, some NAS devices have packages and make reasonable servers, e.g. for Plex
