@shuttersparks @ai6yr You had a mild case (as did I). AI6YR had a moderate case and so used the Pax, which works great, but in a curve-flattening way: it quickly mitigates symptoms, but draws out the time to full resolution.
@shuttersparks @ai6yr I’m sorry to have mischaracterized it, and glad you recovered quickly. (Also, sigh the essential job nature of restaurant roles.)
@shuttersparks @ai6yr Yeah, inasmuch as I believe everyone is going to get this thing many times, and hopefully with diminishing severity over time, it's a true failure of society that we can't even give people time to rest when they are seriously ill.
@shuttersparks @ai6yr Well, let's at least take solace in the fact that COVID doesn't transmit by contact or food.
(In general most people do not realize that respiratory viruses don't transmit by food. By all means you don't want cooks sneezing on food, but that's more about the other crap that comes out of your nose, not the virus. 😂)
@janakj @ai6yr Yeah, some people considered it irresponsible but no one at the restaurant did. Staff was fully informed. I was masked up in a big 3M N95. I spend most of my time at stoves and broiler under the fume extractor so my exhalations were being drawn up and blown out the roof. Lol. To our knowledge, nothing bad happened.
@shuttersparks @ai6yr Ugh. Fully masked and hot in a kitchen while feeling half-dead, though.
@janakj @shuttersparks Yeah. i mean, my symptoms right now are ***very*** mild (definitely "head cold" level) versus the craziness I had a week and a half ago (Definitely happier without the massive headache and vomiting).
@shuttersparks @ai6yr 8 to 10 days matches my experience. Paxlovid probably prolong it though because of the rebound.
