I’ll admit: I judge Generations on a curve. I was thirteen when it was released—who DOESN’T have a soft spot for media they loved at that age?

Opening with the champagne bottle is such a fun, unexpected curveball. Should they have opted for “Chateau Picard” over Dom Pérignon, though?

“Damn fine ship, if you ask me!” Wait, what?! I thought Scotty despised the Excelsior class. Does the “Enterprise” label redeem it, in his eyes?

If if remember correctly, the filmmakers wanted Spock and McCoy — not Chekhov and Scotty — to tag along here. Kirk’s “death” would have landed harder with those two to mourn him.

Not bothering to look it up, but I’m guessing that’s the same old Excelsior model from Star Trek III, IV and VI? (I still love the depth and detail of these old model shots!)

One thing I DID have to look up: is that Tuvok?!

Answer: that is Tim Russ, but he’s an unnamed extra here. I was thrown off by the fact that Tuvok DOES show up on the bridge of an Excelsior-class ship (in a Voyager episode released later).

How is the Enterprise always the only starship “in range?” They’re in our solar system! Didn’t Starfleet learn its lesson during the V’Ger incident?

Demora Sulu says “The starboard vessel’s hull is collapsing,” but isn’t it the port vessel that explodes?

Can we all agree that Data’s skull looks ridiculous? What’s the purpose of all those blinking lights?

I’m sure it was difficult to light the TNG sets for film. This scene looks odd, though.

Continuing my #StarTrek Generations rewatch… you can tell they’re futuristic space photos by the shiny borders!

What’s the point of the “Stellar Cartography” room? Couldn’t the Holodeck meet that need? Bonus: you wouldn’t have to set aside a space that gets used once in eight years!
