Give me a good spark transmitter and a Branley coherer for reception. Rotary spark gap, LC resonator, done. Nice and simple. No electronics whatsoever. Just good old-time radio. Bzzt bzz bzz bzzt.
Of course, when I transmit, everyone in the Northeastern U.S.A. hears me on every frequency from 3 to 12 MHz, but hey, that's real radio.
