@1finekitty This would be a major improvement if the criteria are well designed. Today, they are not. The criteria used today for taking guns away amount to "mental illness". But this accomplishes nothing because virtually all people deemed mentally ill wouldn't hurt a fly anyway.

Different criteria are needed, whether applied only to the gun question or to new definitions for mental illness.

A person who shoots up a school is clearly mentally ill. Yet they might not meet the official criteria for mental illness. There's something wrong with that, that needs to be addressed.
