Man, one of the biggest thunderstorm systems I've ever since is coming at us here in West Virginia from Detroit, MI. It's already been raining for hours and the other end of the storm is still over Detroit. It's yuge.
@Dtl Yes, it's an unusual pattern, and not just because it's so big. Thunderstorms usually form a line, sometimes a very thin line, along a front. As the front passes you get a burst of t-storm activity.
I've been watching this for hours and it looks like there's a "thunderstorm generator" around Detroit that just keeps cranking them out non stop for hours and they drift southeast towards West Virginia. Weird.
@Dtl Epic is a good description. When I pulled up the radar, zoom out, zoom out, zoom out, how big IS this thing, anyway?
@shuttersparks just looked up the weather radar, that's epic.
