@CharlieKruse Yes, and there are lots of middle-class and poor people who believe this. Perfect, if you're rich.
@6G @CharlieKruse Not to mention that a big chunk of today's poor are the government's creation.
@6G @CharlieKruse No, no. I'm talking about the Tax Code. If we brought back the tax code we had in the 1950s, it would only take a few years for a big chunk of today's poor to become middle class and everyone moves up. Starting under Reagan in the 1980s, the tax code was turned upside down to burden the middle class and push wealth to the top. Today we have lots of poor, a small cadre of billionaires, and corporations that shelter trillions of dollars in overseas banks. That was not possible in the 1950s and 60s, the most prosperous era the U.S.A. has ever seen and ever will see unless the people force Congress to fix the tax code.
As Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin pointed out in the 1990s, the Tax Code is the government's most powerful to for social engineering.
@6G @CharlieKruse That would be "tool" not "to". A slip of the fingers. Hahaha.

The government creating the (some?) poor
Like the push to have States make it difficult to have #abortions and after the baby is there fight hard to not offer support. To not help the unwanted child?
Speaking of giving money away #poverty
This example seemed to have worked in Canada
