My mother had a bad back, I do, my son does.

But I don't usually have back pain.

I don't know if you have our problem, but if you do?

Get a 20lb kettlebell. Do 20 toe touches to limber up, then 20 overhead lifts with the kettlebell, putting the kettlebell on the ground in between each lift.

3x a week, first thing in the morning.

@fatsam I've wondered since I moved to West Virginia if there isn't a genetic connection to back problems. Here, virtually everyone has a "bad back" -- old people, young people, everyone. In contrast, back problems are unheard of in anyone related to me.

@shuttersparks @fatsam

I'm sure there is, but there are plenty of other factors, as well. I would expect a correlation with poverty, and WV is one of the poorest states.

Also, what DKM said about strengthening back muscles is entirely correct.

@TruthSandwich @fatsam Yes, I've wondered the same, but it seems universal, including young people born into wealth here. It's just a West Virginia thing.

@shuttersparks @fatsam

Never been to WV, so I have to ask: Does it run at the usual 1G or does the Earth suck even more than usual around there?

@TruthSandwich @fatsam The latter I think because it would explain the collapsing buildings, drooping power lines, and leaning power poles.
