@lovelylovely Exactly. They've been here for a long, long time. Really since the Civil War, they just weren't called Nazis. I've been aware of them since the 1960s.
@lovelylovely It goes back much farther. Christofascists (if that's a word) go back to when they realized they could never get what they want through democracy. In the 1960s, the game was already changing to one of subverting democratic government, hobbling it to make it fail and look bad to the public
By the 1980s, the move to take over the legislatures of at least two-thirds of the states was underway. The objective there was to call a Constitutional Convention and rewrite the whole thing in a manner that pleased them. They very nearly succeeded and they're still uncomfortably close. Most ordinary citizens don't even know this is possible. Yes, the U.S. Constitution is an astounding document because the means for its own destruction is built in. They intend to use it.
Anyway, that's where the cheating, Gerrymandering, voter-suppression, disenfranchisement of felons, careful manipulation of the Electoral College, etc., etc. comes from. It's organized and intentional. They can't get what they want in a fair vote so they're gradually compromising the whole system.
@shuttersparks
I completely agree with your assessment of the modern day lawless GOP Nazis.
PS: Christofascism is a word.
