@juddlegum I wouldn't know anything about that. I left Twitter after 14 years in mid-November.
@annaleen I'd be shocked if the US government hasn't already done this years ago, and you'll never know about it. The 3-letter agencies and U.S. Marshals went big on facial recognition technology ten years ago and today it's everywhere.
You don't hear about it and you won't hear about it because it would reveal what they know and what they have.
6 January 1881 | German Jewish woman Paula Schönhof was born in Frankfurt am Main.
In September 1942 she was incarcerated in Theresienstadt ghetto from where she was deported to Auschwitz on 18 May 1944. She did not survive.

I see that some climate scientists are now talking degrees C instead of tenths of a degree.
Great. We're screwed. But we already knew that.
REMINDER: Steve Scalise’s life was saved by a Black lesbian Capitol cop who covered his body with her own while she was shot in the process. Then Scalise voted against the #EqualityAct. TWICE. That is all you need to know about him. #SteveScaliseIsTrash #NeverSteveScalise
Now that Roger Stone, Michael Flynn, & Steve Bannon have all called for Trump to be installed as House Speaker, can we acknowledge that this is a continuation of the insurrection? Stone laid out this plan last year on his blog. The Jan. 6th Committee let Stone blindside us by not focusing on him. #Insurrection #January6 #RogerStone #MikeFlynn #SteveBannon #HouseGOP
McCarthy has now lost 10 Speaker votes, and there's no sign of anything changing.
But here's the part that really gets me.
Republicans—who won 2 presidencies with fewer votes, filibustered dozens of popular bills while representing 20M fewer Americans, and appointed 3 SCOTUS justices contrary to the will of the majority of Americans—are upset that 20 ultra-MAGAs are holding 200 MAGAs hostage.
I guess they don't like the FO stage of FA ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@lauren Yes, that always gives me comfort.
@juddlegum And the point of this is what? Do they not know that LGBTQ people will continue to be here in the population, in the same numbers, as they've been for as long as humans have existed?
De Santis and his fans seem to believe that banning books will change human biology.
You may not be surprised that @geoffreyfowler once again created a fake account for a U.S. senator and got a blue check from Twitter with no questions asked. https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2023/01/05/twitter-blue-verification/
Oops! I did again:
I created a Twitter account pretending to be @SenMarkey (with his permission) and applied for Blue “verification.”
And once again, Twitter took my $8, asked zero questions and gave the fake account a blue checkmark.
Clerk explains to members-elect she has the responsibility to ensure decorum and order in the House chamber until a speaker is elected. Lawmakers respond with applause.
@ObsidianUrbex Yes, a trencher. Believe it or not, there's another one much larger still. Haha.
Per @josephmenn Elon Musk personally ordered Twitter to ban antifascist researcher Chad Loder https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2023/01/04/mudge-finds-a-new-job/ As I reported, Loder's open-source investigations identified multiple Capitol rioters and were cited in a criminal complaint against a violent Proud Boy but the same work infuriated far-right activists Musk admires, Andy Ngo and Chaya Raichik https://theintercept.com/2021/11/10/proud-boys-antifascist-tweet-chad-loder-court/
@BrentToderian @lloydalter That's certainly true here where I am in West Virginia. This town was founded in the 1700s. Streets are narrow for horses and now one way. There's no room for a bicycle anywhere.
It's a shame because bicycles could zoom around town easily. Instead, cars are gridlocked single file on narrow streets.
But this is West Virginia, so it will never change.
@simonec That's not junk food at all. There's more vegetables in there than I eat in a month.
