So in Florida a teen has to prove they are mentally mature enough to have an abortion, but not to give birth and raise a child? Jeesus Florida! theguardian.com/us-news/2022/d

What are white holes, and do they really exist?

#AskEthan

Our Universe is full of black holes, which Einstein's General theory of Relativity wholeheartedly predicted.

Could white holes, which are also mathematically admissible, also be real?

@pairko@mastodon.cloud All true, but his staff should never have allowed this guy to get near him, much less shake hands.

Authorities increasingly concerned that Chinese balloon may drop counterfeit SD cards around the country, with less than the labeled amount of actual capacity, thereby bringing our entire computer industry to a halt when writable space runs out unexpectedly.

@augieray It's easy for me to remember this cholera incident because I was delivered by another obstetrician named Dr. Snow in Santa Monica, 1953. I never knew his first name.

The 19th Century cholera outbreak in London was solved by public, not individual, action. Almost no one believed Dr. John Snow, an obstetrician, who said the Broad Street pump was the source of the disease. But, town officials decided to take the handle off the pump, making it impossible to draw water. Had they instead asked everyone to live with cholera and take individual action only if they cared to do so, thousands more would've perished.

Hey there, everyone. Finally decided to give Mastodon a shot. Not sure that I'm gonna be *dramatically* more active here than I was on my Twitter, but I suppose that depends on what connections I make here!

@TheOldGuy It was not unusual for old cathedrals to have tunnels connecting with the nuns' housing or nunnery. This was so they could visit the cathedral without having any contact with the public.

Some orders required zero contact with outsiders, not even visual contact.

I'm not saying that's definitely the case here but I'll bet it is.

This sailor company has my number and is going to take all of my money. MY GOD. So many cute pens.

This one isn't really around much anymore without paying "collector prices"

@hasmis Edit to the above: In October of 2019 I bought a new snow thrower.

@hasmis Hahaha. Here in West Virginia, we stopped getting enough snow to build a snowman years ago. So now it's all downside and none of the fun.

Every year we'd get snowfalls of 6 and 8 inches or more. I remember one 19 inch snowfall around 2014.

In October I bought a brand new snow thrower, hoping to have some fun with that. Fired it up once to test it. It's been hanging on the basement wall ever since, collecting dust.

If I'm stuck with winter, I actually prefer some snow on the ground. It makes walking easy even if there's ice underneath. Now it's just ice.
