I have in my entire career so far treated zero complications of mifepristone, and maybe a half dozen from medical or surgical abortion overall. I have treated thousands of acetaminophen (Tylenol) and ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil) overdoses, scores of diphenhydramine (Benadryl) overdoses, and dozens of baclofen (Lioresal) and alprazolam (Xanax) overdoses. I’ve watched people die from aspirin overdoses and aspirin-related bleeds. This judge in Texas is a disingenuous lying scumbag.

@Alchemist_Final @StillIRise1963 I heard the expression in the 1950s and 60s growing up in Los Angeles. I think people today are less likely to think of themselves as breeding stock or cattle as we've done for thousands of years. Children are no longer seen as assets but as expenses so families no longer aspire to have 8 or 10 kids "of good stock". It's no longer a point of great pride to say, "I have 37 grandchildren."

@philbaker1 Congratulations! Welcome to the gang. Look for me around 7050 to 7060 kHz CW. I usually call CQ SKCC but don't let that stop you from answering. 73 de KW2P, Phil

@cory Did Luke or Rey ever take the trials? Did Yoda feel that Luke was a Jedi? Yes. It's possible to take a non-standard path.

This is the MOST DANGEROUS event so far in the country's lurch to fascism.

This is a Republican governor telling right-wing fascists to start shooting.

He's saying it is OK now, no one will hold you accountable if you murder "those people."

If armed bank guards can’t stop a killer before he kills, how do they expect armed teachers to?

Wow! I saw an EV today. Well, a hybrid. I once saw a Prius here years ago. Today I saw the first Chevy Volt I've ever seen. Times are changing here in West Virginia, where EVs are not a thing. Here it's Dodge RAMs and Challengers, and hot-rodded vintage muscle cars.

(File this under "How Middle America lives.")

@lauren As we've seen again and again, he's a 12 year-old in a man's body.

(No offense to actual 12 year-olds intended. I once was one.)

My father volunteers at a preserved World War Two “Liberty Ship”, the John W. Brown, docked in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. These ships were built “on the cheap”, with only 5-year expected lifespans, and using late-1800s steam engine technology (fueled on “Bunker C” coal)! Their primary purpose was to transport supplies, and later, personnel. Very few remain, and this one’s kept as a floating museum. Dad helps out with the radio room and similar equipment. You folks were super enthusiastic about my posting more on Mastodon, so let's try this.

RT/boost and let's see if there's interest in a regular #Ukraine thread!

Kyiv remains in Ukrainian hands.

For the last year, I've been tracking a notorious Russian unit known for its role in killing 100s of civilians.

This past month we published how we found them.

@WideAperture@stranger.social Hahaha. Yeah. The reason I phrased my comment the way I did was because I was not the one who woke up with a venomous snake (fer-de-lance) in my cabin with me and my girlfriend. My friend was. He radioed me to come out and help him get rid of it. But as luck would have it (my luck), by the time I got out to his boat, he had just gotten it overboard and it swam away.

@WideAperture@stranger.social I have first hand knowledge of exactly that happening. Hahaha.

@WideAperture@stranger.social It's my understanding that all snakes can swim. Living on the shore of a river in Central America, this was always something to keep an eye out for. If you have a sailboat or motoryacht, snakes can climb up the swim ladder. Pull it up at night so you don't wake up with an extra passenger.

We told y’all it would happen, and it is happening. Women are being forced to carry to term, and deliver, fetuses that cannot survive. For anyone wondering, anencephaly is a condition where the brain partially or fully fails to develop — there is either very little brain, or none at all. These babies cannot survive, because they don’t have a brain.

Speaking as an anesthesiologist that's spent more time in labor and delivery than most non-obstetricians will spend in their lifetimes, I cannot stress this enough: innocent people will die if mifepristone is outlawed. And it won't be in a few weeks or months— it will happen within hours. Judges should not be practicing medicine. Full stop.
