It's weird. Events have been so crazy that a hurricane destroyed the city of Acapulco in Mexico and it's not even front page news. If I were Hari Seldon, I might say something something foundation something. My parents met in Acapulco. I wouldn't be here if not for that place. Just horrific news.

It's sinking in to oligarch owners of the GOP that a re-invigorated IRS will uncover decades of hidden tax avoidance and things far, far worse. Hence THE objective of the last threatened shut-down and the next and next will be to slash that IRS budget.

Fire fighting times have changed in FN Queensland. When we first moved into our bush block, 1985, we had no-one but us & neighbours to fight our fires or burn off, we were outside the town brigade's area & not in a rural brigade's. Now there is a fire & we have a water bomber EMQ helicopter dropping buckets of water on a neighbour's place.

No great apparent risk to us from the fire, but apparently they have 19 vehicles & 2 more coming.

So much more professional than 40 years ago. More power to their arms.
