@ClaraListensprechen@universeodon.com I remember that one!

The group of people who are trying to divide the fediverse seem to have reached a new low.. They have a tool that lists how many instances block a particular instance, but it is highly manipulative.

For starters it is hand curated.. so they exclude blocks against their own instances and only includes instances they actually dislike.

Worse yet they curate a list ordered by "most blocked".. problem is they use the number of instances that block. They game the system by having large number of single-user instances. So instances in the top 50 may only be blocked by a few hundred people but still appear as if the blocks are significant....

This is why we need transparency, its why we need the UFoI.org

@acosta @ChrisKillat I concur. I’ve already asked them to delete my Post account. I don’t want to be the product for another billionaire. I’m nice and cozy right here.

@lolennui Yeah, you can speak freely and not worry that something you said will be deliberately misinterpreted and attacked.

@lauren Understood. I'd be much more comfortable doing 30 minutes or longer. Trying to cram into three minutes without being misunderstood is something else.

@karlauerbach @smellsofbikes Oh boy. Then you're familiar with the exciting noise abatement takeoff that caters to the rich folks that live in Newport Beach.

@karlauerbach @smellsofbikes Hah, I have seen that video. The takeoff shown is not unlike taking off from Orange County, CA. (Noise abatement flight path). The 757 was quite the hotrod and takeoffs from OC were always fun. One time I was lucky, the plane was lightly loaded, and the pilot really got on it. Whoo hoo.

There are videos of static tests also including destructive tests. Bend it until it breaks.

Nowadays they use fancy hydraulics. They used to pile weights on the wings, then check for stresses and elongated rivet holes. Lol.

The wings of a B-52 can flex alarmingly too and still be within design limits. The wingtips of B-52s used to have small wheels because they would touch the ground when the plane was fully fueled.

@karlauerbach @smellsofbikes I believe it. Aerobatics involve high G's but it's mostly smooth changes. Plus, if you're the pilot, you know exactly what's coming. That's not the same as getting violently randomly jerked around by forces you don't control.

@smellsofbikes @karlauerbach Hah. And the wings a-flappin'.

I feel much safer in a sailplane. No engine to fail and the wings are designed to bend, a lot.

Finally got here. Tired of the drama over there. Will be sharing our journalism @ProPublica and occasional adorable photos of my grandson.

@karlauerbach Maybe I should log in just to do that. I haven't deleted my account, I just haven't used it now for 3 or 4 weeks.

@ClaraListensprechen@universeodon.com @cnalletamby It will surely clear itself up. Moving isn't difficult but it is a bit of a hassle that I wouldn't do unless I had a real reason. I had several reasons to move but by far the biggest was the 500 char limit on my old instance. I bumped into it several times and said, I'm outta here.

@lauren Yes you are. It's a talent that I don't have. Condensed summarization has always been difficult for me.

I was curious though whether you ever made notes. I sure would, but that's me.
