@HamonWry Exactly that happened here in my town in West Virginia about 12 years ago. Anyone else would have gone to prison for 3 counts of negligent homicide at the very least. But since he was a cop, he was simply dismissed and was immediately hired by a neighboring jurisdiction.

@johnwehrle@mastodon.social @QasimRashid There's a lot to be said for experience in Congress. Congress is all about seniority, who you know, I'll scratch your back if you'll scratch mine kind of thing. The longer you're there and the more active you are the more power you gain.

From the purely practical standpoint of benefit to the State of California, the vote should automatically go to Shiff.

My first experiments with steppers was in 1982. I had no plan, I was just curious. I used an MC6809 with some extra hardware.

Then I became curious whether I could increase the speed, the stepping rate, beyond the motor's ratings. I think it was a 12 volt motor. To do that you have to overcome the inductance of the coils and to do that you need higher voltage. But higher voltage would burn out the windings.

So I cobbled together a 48 volt power supply with some big Ohmite power resistors to limit the current. Rebuilt the transistor drivers. It worked. That motor screamed around nicely. The downside is most of the power is wasted as heat in the resistors.

Nowadays one could use MOSFETs in Class D and keep the efficiency high.

@gothamgirlblue Yes, in my experience this is true. Paternalist thinking is common among whites and trained into the boys. It's much less so in black families I've known and when I lived in Central America.

In Central America it switches depending on where you are. When out in public the male takes a dominant role. But as soon as you step inside the house. The women call the shots and the men sit down and shut up. Hahaha. Major decisions are mostly made by the women in the family.
