@snarkysteff Lol. I just pop mine off the ceiling and set it on a low shelf until I'm done. Probably not the best practice but I'm tired of it howling when I'm trying to sear a roast.

@wikihow Hah! Yes, and hope the dentist hits the right nerve with the anaesthetic. :ablobsweating:

@ai6yr Yeah, I remember it well. I used to listen to Rush every day. At that time he was mentioning Pinatubo every day, every show. You know the saying (Goebbels, I think) that if you repeat a lie often enough it becomes truth. At the time, I just accepted what I heard, never imagining that a major personality like that would tell a bald-faced lie over and over.

Hah. I learned.

We must prevent, at all costs, the presence of an authoritarian wannabe in the White House. There are two men in Florida who currently want that position and that power. Either would be a disaster for America.

@atomicpoet Would be nice but this is up to the users. The vast majority of users on Facebook are there because their friends and family are there, and they couldn't care less about Meta's behavior, politics, or business practices.

In Central and South America, Facebook is viewed by most as the whole Internet.

Moving that billion to the fediverse will never happen.

Mary Edwards Walker worked as a surgeon for the Union Army during the Civil War. She was captured by Confederates after crossing enemy lines to treat wounded civilians & arrested as a spy. She's the only woman to ever receive the Medal of Honor - pictured here, wearing it.

I almost went to work for the Carter administration in 1978. I was considering joining the chief counsel's office at NTIA (National Telecommunications and Information Administration.) I was one of the few people at that time who was aware of the developments that were becoming the Internet and had a background in both that technology and law.

Carter is the best president of my lifetime.

@maria_drutska Missiles, F-16s, and plenty of Mk82 and Mk84 bombs.

A Mk84 will absolutely ruin your day. An F-16 can carry two. You need to be laying flat on the ground and at least 1,200 feet away from a Mk84 impact if you plan on walking away in somewhat functional condition. Close up, forget it. It makes a 50 foot crater. And they are inexpensive. youtube.com/watch?v=P05HZZQw4w

Ukraine has a realistic chance to liberate russian-occupied Crimea by the end of the summer if it gets long-range missiles. We will do everything possible for Ukraine to win this year,- retired U.S. General Ben Hodges for Ukrinform.

Ok thanks. Long-range missiles? Anyone? Please?

Republicans like to call drag queens groomers. But WE always know who the true groomers are in the United States of America.

@markwoll @LAGilman Atheist here also, but more than a little familiar with the Bible. Were it true, what you call for might very well happen. Not because they deprecated Carter but because doing so would be characteristic of a person who has likely transgressed in countless ways and run up quite a tab that will need to be addressed.

Sometimes I wish the Bible were true.

@LAGilman Agreed, and agreed. Carter strives every day to be that righteous person because it's the right thing to do. People like him are rare as hen's teeth.

@fomm @jurjen_heeck @briankrebs Um, ten years ago, Facebook stated that they never, ever delete anything. Deleting your account, which I did eleven years ago does nothing but de-activate the account. Nothing is deleted. Facebook said that its systems are designed in such a way that they are unable to actually delete anything, nor any mechanisms in place to enable them to determine what needed to be deleted.

Deletion is not a thing at Facebook.

@hasmis @thepoliticalcat You took the words out of my mouth. And NS will plead with the government for a bailout to pay the lawsuits.

@jbwharris Probably means that no one died as a direct result of making the product.

@AmeliaBR @Meyerweb That would be great. Just two weeks ago I did an experiment with a friend. He created a post, and waited for everyone to see it. Then he made an edit to the post and let everyone know what the change was. Even after days none of us saw any change to the original post.

At best, it appears that edit functionality is spotty. Until that improves I'd consider it a dangerous function to use.
