@MattD Ah yes, when the false narrative encounters reality, violently.

To be clear, Republicans never censured George Santos who is under criminal indictment or KKK Paul Gosar who makes death threats or pervert Matt Gaetz or any GQPer who played a role in sedition, but they censured Congressman Adam Schiff because they hate his delivery of truth. ~Ricky Davila.

Kenya is among a number of African states reportedly looking to introduce sweeping anti-homosexuality laws, with politician Mohamed Ali saying he wanted to “kick LGBT people out of Kenya completely”.

If you wear your socks inside out, the entire universe is wearing your socks except for you.
@Adam_Cadmon1 @carrideen Yeah, this has gone on since forever. Royalty would sometimes do the same thing to try and polish their public image, especially if they sensed that the people were thinking about getting a rope.
Billionaires are today's royalty.
I've been a PayPal user for 20 years. It used to be that cash transfers from you bank account into PayPal were instant. This made sense because ACH transfers are instant. But nowadays, the ACH transfer takes place immediately but PayPal holds onto the cash for two weeks before releasing it into your account.
Doing this with checks is a crime called check kiting. This allows the recipient to make use of the time-value of money for free, without paying interest. But it's legal in this setting simply because there's no law against it.
@KarpKan Welcome to Mastodon. Just two suggestions. There's no algorithm here. Likes are only visible to the post's author so boost liberally. Boost things that you like. Also, hashtags are important in original posts but can be skipped in conversational posts like this one.

Hello #Mastodon! This is my very first post. I'm still a little confused on how this all works, but as Reddit continues to destroy itself I'm finding a new home 🏡
I love it. Russia's prospects just got worse thanks to a Pentagon accounting error that results in a $6 billion defense boost for Ukraine.
@mollyjongfast Hmm, trying to misdirect our attention from the real question by focusing on a minor detail. Standard PR tactic.

#SCOTUS Justice Samuel Alito took a luxury fishing vacation to #Alaska with a hedge fund billionaire who later had at least 10 cases before the court. https://www.propublica.org/article/samuel-alito-luxury-fishing-trip-paul-singer-scotus-supreme-court
@ai6yr Hmm. I drink a triple shot of espresso every morning and grind my own. I never grind more than two or three days worth at a time so it's nice and fresh. I LOVE coffee and want the maximum flavor from what little I drink.

I though I’d learn #Morse code and #AVR programming at the same time. I started with an ATmega48P gating a 555 generating a tone. But that’s boring. So, I extended my code to generate #MIDI messages toggling D#6 on and off. #hamradio #electronics (This was originally posted July 24, 2022 on my now-defunct twitter account.)
@black_intellect Only eight years?
@N0ZB@mastodon.radio I certainly hope that's not the case. The likelihood of this being true approaches zero. The type of RTG the CIA would have used produces around 50 watts when new and its output declines about one percent per year. 50 watts is the amount of energy the sun puts on a patch of ground about 25 centimeters square.
Plutonium contamination is obviously possible. This would require that the RTG be dismantled to expose the plutonium and the plutonium (a metal) broken into some form that could get into the environment. It's possible.
@N0ZB@mastodon.radio Yes, we use them too, but only for a few specialized applications, mainly to power spacecraft that can't effectively use solar panels like the Voyagers, Curiosity, etc. We don't sprinkle thousands of them around the countryside just in case they might be needed, then abandon them.
We also build ours from expensive plutonium because it results in a compact unit that produces a lot of power and little radiation. We don't build them out of waste cesium-137 and strontium-90 that produce lots of radiation and not much power.
The USSR sprinkled more than 2,500 RTGs (small highly-radioactive generators) across the Arctic and in remote mountain locations. They are unsupervised and unmaintained, stolen and scrapped by metal dealers who sometimes die of radiation poisoning.
The bird population in the U.S. is down about 3 billion breeding birds since 1970. Around a billion birds are killed in the U.S. each year by flying into windows. Around 2.5 billion birds are killed by feral cats. Learn what you can do to help birds.
