@GurdeepPandher I wish I was there.
Hmm. Over the past two days I've noticed a change in rhetoric used in the news media regarding Trump, Giuliani, election fraud, and the insurrection. Softening words like "alleged" and "supposed" have disappeared suddenly. Putting things in quotes has disappeared. Now it's just words like illegal and false with no softening-words.
I wonder what this means. Are they done harvesting income from scandal-generator Donald Trump and cutting him loose? Have they come to the realization that the court proceedings will not go well for Trump and his minions and are getting on the side of reality, truth, and the majority of voters so they don't end up looking stupid? What's Fox going to do when the people they've supported for years end up in jail?
Amd what's wrong with Giuliani? He's a lawyer and should know better. He just got hit with a $148 million judgment so he declared bankruptcy. Does he not know that you can't declare bankruptcy in order to avoid paying an obligation? And he comes out of court after the judgment and runs his mouth some more, so the lawyers who won the $148 million judgment just sued him again. Senility?
"Do you know why I pulled you over?" will be illegal in California from January 1, 2024. Now police have to tell you why they pulled you over.
The idea is to stop pre-textual traffic stops, in which an officer pulls over a driver, usually Latino or African-American, intending to find a reason to search their vehicle for contraband.
Research shows that pre-textual traffic stops are a racist practice that nets very little contraband. #acab

@gwaldby Yay! Otherwise, painters, welders, and many others might think their fundamental rights are being violated. Hahaha.
What I find irritating is that around here in West Virginia, wearing a mask will result in harassment.
@histoftech Yup. I'm 70, and oddly, I was just talking about this tonight, and the fact that here in West Virginia, it's still the same as in the 1960s. Everybody smokes, everybody assumes that you smoke.
I’m old enough to remember when smoking (and smoke) was everywhere, and the idea that smokers might ever be asked or made to stop was seen as absurd. Many kids (including me) got horrible bronchitis every single year and had other sorts of breathing problems all the time. Many parents (and other adults) died early.
@dangillmor Indeed. I'm old and was around when Godwin's Law first appeared. Things were different then.
Godwin's Law does not apply if you're talking about an actual fascist, who adores Adolf Hitler, whose favorite book is The Collected Speeches of Adolf Hitler.
The reason Ukraine is running out of artillery shells and other critically important supplies is, Speaker Mike Johnson in his clean suit on the left thinks, the weapons support to the Ukrainian soldier on the right can wait.
So Mike Johnson is now going home to celebrate Christmas with his family, while this soldier is trying to fight the Russian invasion with even less weapons.
The US deserves better politicians.
@BigJesusTrashcan Hah! That's an old hitchhiking trick.
@lovelylovely Except that half of the voters think this is a good thing.
Traditionally, chutzpah is defined as killing your parents and pleading for mercy as an orphan. But then there’s suing the Tolkien estate for infringing your Lord of the Rings fanfic, https://www.theguardian.com/books/2023/dec/18/copyright-claim-against-tolkien-estate-backfires-on-lord-of-the-rings-fanfiction-author
The only way to get where ALL OF US want to go, is through using JOE BIDEN to get to the NEXT STEP. There is NO OTHER WAY. The only other candidate who can win, will make everything you want to see happen merely ACADEMIC. You'll NEVER be able to fight for whatever it is, EVER AGAIN. You won't be able to BE IT, DO IT, TALK ABOUT IT without serious problems. There's NOTHING TO THINK ABOUT.
@black_intellect It's about time. For many years I assumed the FBI tracked it, but I guess not. Hard to believe.
CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens hand out medical records to cops without warrants
Lawmakers want HHS to revise health privacy law to require warrants.
@junecasagrande @GottaLaff Exactly. And nothing new here. I've heard the same rhetoric from right-wingers since the early 1990s. I'm sure it existed before that time.
Trump didn't create this. He simply took the lid off the pot.
@SrRochardBunson There was a great thread with some of this on the dead bird site. Sadly, the people who really like Fight Club are incapable of understanding that it is satirizing them, and that they’re the villains.
@perkinsy When I lived in Central America I learned how to shower without plumbing and using very little water. It works fine. It would not work well in cold climates without heating the water first.
