Things hadn't felt right for a while. Something was awry, amiss, askew, out of balance. The universe was tilted ever so slightly - almost imperceptibly, except to those few of us with highly-refined senses - on its axis.

What could be causing this? I was happy here on Mastodon, sure. Yet there was some ragged edge where the square peg had almost, but not quite, been shaped on the lathe of engagement into a nearly perfect dowel, fitting smoothly into this round hole... yet there was some friction, some resistance....

The people were all very nice, very witty, very welcoming... although there was something lurking behind the avatars and pictures, the smiling or thoughtful faces, the clever and charming illustrations... it felt almost as though there was a tinge of... I don't know... pity? Revulsion, perhaps? Something that said, "You are not one of us, no, not quite yet. You are almost there, but not complete, not whole." Yes, that's a lot to perceive - but just as I felt the universe was on a bias, so too was this ever-so-tenuous undercurrent.

Then I found it. The reason for the slight, barely sensed chill. And I knew what I had to do.

I discovered a horror that explained everything. So simple, so tiny, yet looming large in the vast, interconnected matrix of the cosmos.

I had a typo in my Bio. Right there. On my profile page. A typo. It just made everything so clear and obvious!

Now, to be honest, I debated with myself briefly - would fixing this be dishonest? Should my public persona be, as the French say, "with warts and all?"

No. I needed to stem the tide before this abomination affected more people.

I have patched the gaping wound in my psyche and in the fabric of space-time. It is now only fodder for the Way-Back Machine.

If anyone took a screenshot before The Repair, I beg you, I BESEECH you to delete it, for my sake and the sake of humanity.

May G-d protect and preserve us all, and may you and He shine down forgiveness on this poor, wretched, errant soul.

Amazing. When I checked this story (about #Musk getting #booed on stage at a #Chappelle gig) a couple of hours ago it had 3 embedded #Twitter videos of the booing on it. Since then Musk has had all 3 removed and had the account that posted them deleted —not suspended, deleted—completely.

There's no longer any pretence of it being a free, pluralistic platform.
